Barbara has been delivering personalized financial advice to clients for 30 years. She is committed to carefully listening to each individual, which is crucial in the formation of their financial plans and success. Barbara was the representative for a number of large retirement plans, including Hartford HealthCare, University of CT Health Center, University of CT Law, CT Children’s Medical Center, as well as many state teachers' plans. In this capacity, she has laid the foundation for solid retirement savings for countless people and she is proud to have launched many clients into successful retirement. Her entrepreneurial desires led her to co-found Farmington River Financial Group in 2013, a boutique financial advisory practice. As an independent advisor, Barbara is honored to service her clients free from Wall Street constraints.
Barbara serves as a board member of the Discovery Center, a non-profit organization started by Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward. Its mission is to foster positive attitudes about race and differences between urban and suburban school-aged children.
Barbara’s goal of visiting every walled city in Italy means that she often visits the country she called home during college. It is no coincidence that Barbara has a passion and special affinity for Italian people, food, and wine. Other favorite travel destinations include British Virgin Islands, Turkey, Spain, and Portugal. Barbara enjoys visiting local museums and artisan studios in the US and abroad.
Barbara comes from a large family, which helps her understand the complexities of family dynamics. Her father was an engineer and her mother an elementary school teacher. Barbara has two daughters, Juliette and Madeleine. Juliette attends Skidmore College and is the firm’s graphic designer. Madeleine lives in New York City and is teaching her Mom to appreciate art through the eyes of a modern art restoration specialist. Barbara’s husband, Mark, is a 30-year State of CT employee and they live in West Hartford, CT. Their dog, Zephyr, bounds carefree through the local rose garden.
Barbara holds FINRA Series 6, 7, 63, and 66 securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network®, and offers fixed insurance products and services.
Terran R. Titus, CFP®

Terran began her career in the financial services industry more than 30 years ago. She served in a number of senior level positions at major US corporations managing products and working with advisors. A highlight of Terran’s career was being asked to help run ING’s Business School in Amsterdam (2008-2010). Terran enjoyed her ex-pat experience living in a renovated spice warehouse built in 1672 on the Prinsengracht canal. Upon her return to the US, she managed ING’s $40B product management department, working closely with financial advisors to help them grow their practices. In 2014, Terran was ready to pursue her long-term goal of working directly with individuals and families managing their personal finances. She joined her friend Barbara Taylor as a partner in the firm. She has never looked back in her decision to become independent!
Wanderlust began at age 11 when her family moved from Oregon to the south of France. She didn’t speak the language but within a few short months was speaking French exclusively with her sisters. Her playground was the Musée Océanographique in Monaco where her father worked as a scientist. While she learned French quickly as a young girl, her experience with the Dutch language was “niet zo goed”. Terran continues to love adventurous travel and some of her favorite destinations include hiking the Sahara Desert in Morocco, boating through the Galapagos Islands, and hopefully one day seeing the Aurora Borealis in person. Terran now enjoys accompanying her adult daughter, Sarah, on her international business trips.
An avid gardener, Terran loves all flowers but has a special passion for peonies and oriental lilies. She spends her weekends at the local farmers' market, followed by planting and hauling mulch. You are likely to see her flowers adorning our offices when you visit. Terran learned to restore antique furniture from her Mom and is proud of the railroad bench you’ll see in our office. Another source of delight is her red-headed Schnoodle, Finnegan, who is a certified therapy dog. They enjoy visiting schools and hospitals just to make people feel better.
Terran holds FINRA Series 7, 24, 63, and 66 securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network®. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and offers fixed insurance products and services.
